Name: Artemis Baker
Alias: none
Age: 27
Birthdate: April 11
Sex: Male
Occupation: Willfully unemployed
Hair Color: Platinum Blonde
Eye Color: Blue
Height: 5'10"
Face Claim: Orlando Bloom
Appearance: Artemis Baker is a man of average height, thin, who carries himself with an almost rigid posture. His is a friendly expression, almost as if he wears a constant smile. His skin is on the paler side, and he tends to dress in light clothing, sometimes outdated, but always very clean and very indicative of his wealth. His hair, much to his mother's dismay, is worn long.
In cat form, Artemis is plain white with a crescent moon on his forehead.
Personality: One would be hard pressed to find a person friendly than Artemis, or Artie, as some of his friends call him. He was raised in a very wealthy household, heir to the family fortune which has made it possible for him to not worry about employment. Most people would describe him as aloof or lackadaisical, and though sometimes that is not so far from the truth, he is capable of being very disciplined and very serious. He is a highly intelligent man, able to hold on to a vast amount of knowledge which he can recite back almost verbatim. It is a near photographic memory, but there are times when he is too distracted or scatterbrained to recall a fact when it is the most helpful and will end up bashfully spilling it later. Confident to the extreme, when he does make a mistake, he can never truly hide just how mortified it makes him.
He likes to sleep. A lot. Much to the irritation of others. But he is for the most part reliable and there when somebody needs him. There are moments, though, when the arrogance of his upbringing does shine through. He is capable of being condescending and mean without realizing it. Most of the time he catches himself and is quick to apologize, but if you've really earned his hatred, he can be scathing and unrepentant about it. Artemis is the type to take ridicule in stride. After all, he isn't exactly normal. Eccentric to the letter, even the way he dresses tells the story of a man who's not quite like everybody else. And like his clothes, Artemis is very old fashioned and sometimes believes having a copious amount of money excuses how odd he is.
As a mentor, he takes his job very seriously. He is perhaps one of the small handful of people who retains memories of the Silver Millennium, but he is not exactly giving the details of his memories away freely. He has very specific expectations and is quite demanding of his pupil.
Powers and Abilities: Photographic memory. Can change into a cat.
Family:
Father - Apollo Baker, a wealthy philanthropist. Deceased.
Mother - Gina Baker, unemployed.
Other Connections:
Venus - his pupil. Sometimes looks at her as a little sister.
Stephen Moyer - best friend
Maria Stevens - ex fiancé
History:
Artemis Baker was a very curious child. The sort of boy the mother had to keep strapped in a stroller lest he run off to investigate something new. And were his mother attentive, perhaps that would have happened. However, she was often times much too busy planning parties or trying to keep up with the London scene that she never seemed to have much time for her son. His father was constantly busy. Doing one thing or another. He seemed to be out of the country at least five months out of the year. At first, when Artemis was old enough to understand that he craved the attention of his mother and father, it hurt like a deep wound that festered into a nice, and bearable hatred for both of them. He acted out a few times, but it didn't matter in the long run as he was sent away for the better part of the year to an all boy's boarding school, St. Ignatius, in the country. Just far enough away for his parents to claim it an inconvenience to visit him.
Still, the Baker name did at least serve him well enough to become one of the most popular boys at school. A natural born leader, he quickly found a group of boys to adopt into his group, and they remained close throughout their years of schooling. It was through one of his best friends, that he met his first love, Maria. Even at seventeen, it was a very mature love and he was certain that he'd found the woman he was meant to spend the rest of his life with.
And then the dreams began. Dreams of a life that was his but at the same time, it wasn't. He saw images of a war and of a past that was becoming more and more clear to him. As his memories as one of the queen's advisers in the Silver Millennium began to awaken inside of him, he became moody and distant, holding Maria at arm's length so she would not think him crazy. He never did tell her exactly what was wrong with him or why suddenly he no longer wanted to get married, but at twenty-two he ended their engagement and moved back home. His father would die that same year and Artemis would inherit the house and the family fortune, but none of it mattered to him nearly as much as finding one of the Soldiers he dreamt of.
When at last he did find her, he wasted no time in awakened her powers and embarking on a journey with her to find the true princess of the Moon.
Writing Sample:
He was at the very least shocked by the look on her face. But now his mother was used to how he treated her with an indifference touched with a bit of disdain. There was no love between them and the fact that his appearance was something of an embarrassment to her was something he always derived a sick sort of pleasure from. But her reaction to him telling her that she could sod off when she mentioned the length of his hair once again was something that stirred even the most dormant of heartstrings in Artemis. Since when did she look so damned hurt? His mother had never shown one lick of emotion except for irritation where her son was concerned. At least as far as Artie knew.
"I concede it might bit a little long," he said at last, reaching for his wine cup, tearing his blue eyes away from hers. She was still a beautiful woman even though signs of age were telling on her features. Wrinkles around her eyes, on her hands, at the corners of her lips. But if her hair was graying, it was hard to tell. She had the same platinum blonde hair that her son had. And it served to make her look even more striking than it did years ago. "I'll have a few inches taken off." And that was his compromise. She would have to accept that and leave it be.
"It's just off putting, son," she said with a shrug of a thin shoulder. "You're a handsome man, you know. You could have any woman you wanted… but you don't present yourself well."
Artemis rose a brow. "Since when have you been concerned about me in regard to women?"
"I don't know… I just would have thought… Maybe I just want to know what it's like to be a grandmother. I suppose it was something I began to look forward to when you were with Maria… but now…"
"I think I'm full…" he said, pushing his plate away from him. "I've got to go. I'll see you later…" And with a slight scowl, Artemis excused himself from the table and left his mother alone.
