Making a Canon
SbtM is unmistakably an Alternate Reality of the continuity and therefore much of the plot and progression will deviate wildly from the established canon. However, there are still certain things to note when applying for a canon character.
* Because the story takes place in a different setting, you are free to change the appearance and parentage of the character. Play around with the history of your person and see how well they fit into this new world.
* Despite the change in setting, canon characters should remain true to their personalities. For example, Sailor Mercury still aspires to be a doctor and Sailor Venus is still genial and outgoing. We're not looking for exact character personality clones, but try to make them generally similar.
* When making a Senshi or a Villain, powers ought to be based on what was stated in the manga or anime. If you wish to deviate or stray a bit from what was outlined, please ask permission from a staff member. It is important to realize that as of right now, the Sailor Soldiers are awakening and therefore would only be in their first form with their very basic powers. They will, of course, grow and develop as the story goes along, but for now, they are to have no more than what they had in the Classic’s arc. Shitennou players should have enough from the manga and anime to determine how to flesh out their powers, but for help, please come to Charis or Kestrel.
Zodiac Senshi may start with two powers and a weapon. We encourage that Zodiac players first speak with one of the administrators about their desired powers before adding them to their application.
* Consider the world they are living in. London, England is a very diverse and open place, but it still has a specific culture. Determine how your character fits into this place, where they went to school if they grew up there, where they are now, do they work, and things of that nature. This is not a drag and drop of Tokyo into London, and no we aren't asking you to spend hours poring over wikipedia or encyclopedias, but just make sure your character's history fits with the setting.
* Talk with other players who are already playing in the game. If your character is tied to them, determine the connections they might share and how they came to share them. If they are already friends or rivals, work out with the other player how it came to happen. Or if they don't know one another yet, plot with them to see how their paths will cross.
* Canon characters that are not senshi are encouraged. This may include characters like Sailor Moon's mother or classmates. But it may also include original characters that have been in game for a while but are now up for adoption. Be sure when adopting a character to either ask what role they've played in the game or read their past threads.
Making an Original
* Original characters may belong to any walk of life. Student, teacher, baker, candlestick maker... The sky's the limit. So long as their back story or current circumstance is realistic, it is allowed.
* Original characters may not have powers without administrator approval.
* If you wish for your original character to have ties with other characters on the board, contact the player.
* Original Sailor Soldiers are not allowed at this time.
