FAQ
What is this game's rating?
Ratings are subjective by their very nature, so there are few hard and fast rules about content ratings on SbtM. However, as we are beholden to the Proboards Terms of Service, please be aware of the following:
* Excessive obscenity (ex. if it gets hard to read the real words in between the swearing)
* Promotion of violence and/or drugs out of character (ex. 'Genocide and cocaine are really awesome and you all should try them sometime.')
* Explicit sex acts (ex. 'He put his **** in her ****** and they ****ed like rabbits,')
If the mod staff feels like any member is in risk of violation of the TOS, they will inform the players involved and reserve the right to edit the posts in question. For scenes of a sexual nature, please 'fade to black' if things look to be getting too hot and heavy for Proboards. Members are more than welcome to continue these scenes off-site, either through e-mail or Google documents.
What is SbtM's relationship to Sailor Moon canon?
We acknowledge that everything that took place in the anime/manga series actually did occur... in its own sphere of alternate reality. However, in this sphere, we are exploring a 'what if' scenario. What would have happened if the Silver Crystal took Sailor Moon's wish a little too literally. So going by that, it's safe to assume that the battle with Beryl would have had to happen for everything before to become undone, but since it has, we are now dealing with an entirely new premise altogether.
That said, we still are holding to the fact that there were mounting tensions between the Golden Kingdom and the Moon Kingdom of the Silver Millennium. Nothing diverged in that until the war that wiped out the Moon Kingdom. The armies that brought about their downfall were not of Golden Kingdom origin. Beyond that, let's just say, we'll let the game unravel and reveal just who the real villain is this time.
Sailor Venus is blonde in the anime and manga! Why do some of the PBs look so different than the original characters?
Because SbtM is an AU game set in a highly diverse place (modern London), we are taking full advantage of the setting and all the different kinds of people it offers to us. Along with changes in name and alterations to character histories, players are more than welcome to choose alternate visual interpretations of their characters. As long as the characters remain true in terms of personality, how they appear is just the window dressing. Players are more than welcome to choose appearances that mirror the original canons, but they also have the freedom to diverge from those appearances wherever they choose.
If the Shitennou are in play, does this mean other characters from the continuity throughout the series arcs will also be made available?
The progression of the plot on SbtM is entirely character driven. As we go forward in the story and as the game grows, it's only natural to assume we will have openings for characters both good and bad that we encountered in the series. However, due to the massive alteration in the time line caused by Sailor Moon's wish, it is difficult to determine who will in the future play the part of villain as their paths might lead them in another direction. For example, the wish erased the battle with Beryl and thus in the past, Beryl was able to be overcome and defeated by the Golden Kingdom. Therefore we can assume that Beryl will not be encountered in this reality. At least not in a similar manner. For those looking to play a villain or a character who played a big role in the anime or manga as either a villain or a fellow hero/heroine, notify the staff so that we can work together to find a place for your character.
How do you do fights or battles here?
SbtM, as of right now, operates on an honor system. We are all adults (or should be) and should be able to work out compromises or determine who would likely win a fight based on the knowledge given. The staff trusts all members to be able to handle battles and fights free of complications and definitely free of godmodding. It is always important to remember that nobody's characters are invincible. As long as we can hold to this honor system, there will be no need to implement dice rolls or admin tie breakers.
What Year does the story take place in and do events from the real world also occur in their reality?
The story begins in 2012 and time will run concurrently with the real-life calender. While events that are similar in nature may take place in their alternate universe, it is not too terribly likely that everything will occur exactly as it did in our world.
